After Kelly and her husband, Mikey, got married in 2014, their next goal was to buy a house. She said she did some initial research into securing a home loan with other institutions, but she was leaning toward SchoolsFirst FCU from the start. She scheduled an appointment with a loan consultant to discuss their current finances and goals, but she thought they would have to wait another five years before they could purchase a home. “I just wanted to talk to a professional to help me know where to focus and see if we were on the right track to buying a home,” she says. “Our loan consultant Matthew was so amazing and fantastic!” she says. “He took the time to answer all of my questions in depth. He ran numbers with me, and I quickly realized owning a home could be a reality for us sooner than we thought!” The couple enrolled in the Home Advantage program to browse active listings, and a First Team real estate agent helped them officially start the search. Soon after, the couple purchased their home. “We got really lucky — it was the first home we put an offer on, and we got it!”
Kelly raves about how responsive the SchoolsFirst FCU real estate team was throughout the process. She even admits calling Matthew at 9 p.m. in a panic over some issues during loan processing. “It was past the point of where it was his job to help us,” she says, “but he made sure we were taken care of. He absolutely exceeded our expectations. I never felt like I was a bother, even when calling him at night and on the weekends.” She recommends that if Members are considering buying a home, they should talk to a loan consultant. “Everyone I’ve talked to at SchoolsFirst FCU is top-notch. At least go in to talk about your goals.”
“Your service is completely night and day from working with bigger institutions. I was at a larger bank before, and it was always difficult to get answers. With SchoolsFirst FCU, I can go online and get my question answered right away through online chat.”
