Member Story: Lorena L.

Lorena, a painter for the Corona-Norco Unified School District, was working with a real estate agent to buy a home. During the process, she discovered limited credit history prevented her from moving forward.

Thinking a credit card could help her build credit, she applied at her financial institution. But after her application was denied, she didn’t know where to turn.

Upon hearing about the benefits offered through SchoolsFirst FCU from her sister, Lorena visited a branch and became a Member. During her visit, she talked with a representative about her need to build her credit and ultimately applied for a School Employee credit card to get started. After a few months, her credit had improved and she was on her way to buying a home.

“I didn’t know what to do after I was denied, but SchoolsFirst FCU gave me a second chance. I trust the Credit Union because they’re for school employees and I know they’ll take care of me.”
